Concerns over a potential strike at Inco Ltd. are intensifying after contract negotiations between United SteelworkersÂ? Locals 6500/6200 and the mining giant broke off yesterday afternoon.

After more than three weeks without any discussion, the bargaining committee for Local 6500 of the United Steelworkers and negotiating team for Inco Ltd. are back talking.

BY MICHAEL JAMES [email protected] With the Inco strike now approaching its third month, the unionized workers at Falconbridge Ltd. are reaching out and extending a helping hand to their brothers and sisters walking the picket line.

It?s now one week into the first labour dispute at Inco Ltd.?s Sudbury operations in six years and it appears neither side is in any hurry to return to the bargaining table.

College Boreal and Cambrian College received a $2.1 million gift from the provincial government Friday. Cambrian College gets $1,366,492 and College Boreal $778,807.

Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario president Sid Ryan has called off province-wide political action scheduled to begin at midnight last night.

It was million-dollar Monday at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) today, as Inco Ltd. and the provincial government joined forces to pump $1 million into the school's bursary fund.
