The highlight of the Theatre du Nouvel-Ontario season is coming to the Place des Arts, Sudbury, January 30 and 31: Par ici le talent: Liens souterrains.

And for the third edition of this innovative show, the organizing committee is taking a slightly different approach.

“The organizing committee and the over 30 community member participants are concocting an ambitious community theatre project aimed at creating rich and lasting links between newcomers and the host community!” enthused a spokesperson.

“A great cultural braiding is in the works,” she added.

The project is in collaboration with La Slague, le Centre de santé communautaire du Grand Sudbury and la Communauté francophone accueillante de Sudbury. It aims to foster integration and connection with the wider Francophone community and build connections between newcomers and established residents of Sudbury.

“This year, the community theatre project invites audiences to the departure lounge of this strange yet familiar airport, where destinations are not just on signs, and stories span continents,” explained the spokesperson.

She added, “When flight SDB-2026 is announced, a group of travelers from different backgrounds prepare to board for a new beginning. Each one carries a story, a dream, a secret—sometimes a precarious visa, sometimes a hope as solid as nickel. But beware of identity turbulence and unexpected stopovers!”

“Community theatre has always been a big part of the TNO,” said the spokesperson. “We are so thrilled that Par ici le talent has become a space where newcomers and the welcoming community come together to create something really special.”

She finished, “Consider this an invitation to the show. We hope to see many new and old faces in the audience. It really is a highlight of the TNO season!”
