Sudbury Wolves forward Alex Pharand picked up the team's only goal in the Pack's 4-1 loss to the Barrie Colts on Dec. 31.

The Sudbury Wolves took to the ice on the road in Barrie on Wednesday night hoping to ring in 2026 with their sixth victory in a row.

This was not meant to be on this night, as the Barrie Colts took the game by a score of 4-1, dropping the Pack’s record to 14-20-1 on the season.

Bjorn Bronas was the starting goaltender on the road for the Sudbury Wolves while Ben Hrebik got the start in goal for the Barrie Colts.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the opening period, therefore the first period ended in a scoreless tie.

The Barrie Colts struck first with Eamon Edgar scoring his fourth goal of the season at the 6:20 mark of the second period, with the assists going to Nicholas Desiderio and Cole Emerton, giving Barrie a 1-0 lead.

Just 1:20 later, Sudbury native Alex Pharand scored his ninth goal of the season, with Artem Gonchar and Gavin Ewles picking up the assists, tying the game 1-1.

With 3:10 remaining in the second, Barrie’s Calvin Crombie scored his eighth goal of the season, assisted by Brad Gardiner and Ethan Armstrong, putting Barrie in front by a score of 2-1 with one period left to play in the game.

At the 8:32 mark of the third, former Wolves player Alex Assadourian scored his fifth goal of the season, with Ethan Armstrong and Nolan Newton picking up the assists, giving the Colts a two-goal lead by a score of 3-1.

At the 11:28 mark of the third, with Barrie’s Cole Emmerton serving a two-minute minor penalty for holding, the Colts scored a short-handed goal off the stick of Brad Gardiner, his 17th of the season, with Carter Lowe picking up the only assist. That goal sealed a 4-2 victory for the Barrie Colts over the Sudbury Wolves.

The Sudbury Wolves travel back home for a game against the North Bay Battalion on Friday, Jan. 2. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
