People waiting for the results of a police record check from OPP may experience a delay.
The OPP says it's had a significant demand for online police record checks, especially for vulnerable sector checks.
"To ensure fairness and transparency to all, the OPP does not offer expedited or 'rush' services and police record checks are processed in the order they are received," said police in a news release.
People who have already applied can check the processing dates at ontario.tritoncanada.ca. The dates are updated three times a week, with the online portal allowing applicants to submit requests and track the application without having to go to a detachment.
The four types of police record checks OPP provides are for criminal records, criminal record and judicial matters check, vulnerable sector, and OPP non-parent custody.
"The OPP is committed to delivering timely and efficient service and understands how important police record checks are to individuals and organizations across our communities. We are actively implementing improvements to enhance processing times and reduce backlogs. We remain committed to ensuring reliable access for the public and truly value your patience and cooperation," reads the news release.
Anyone with questions about a record check should call 1-833-909-0057 or email opp.virtualdesk@tritoncanada.
