WASAGA BEACH — Ontario Provincial Police have announced the four-year investigation into the abduction of a woman from Wasaga Beach now includes Timmins, the Greater Toronto Area, Quebec, Dubai, and United Arab Emirates.
Elnaz Hajtamiri was violently abducted from a home on Trailwood Place in Wasaga Beach at 8:30 p.m. on January 12, 2022, four years ago today. Police say she was abducted by three men pretending to be police executing a warrant, and wearing quasi-tactical gear.
She was 37 at the time, and was attacked by men who beat her with a frying pan in Richmond Hill parking garage weeks before she was abducted. She hasn't been seen or heard from since.
Her former boyfriend, Mohamad Lilo, is on trial for her murder, and several others have been arrested and charged for being involved in the frying pan attack and/or the abduction.
"As a result of the ongoing investigation, the OPP has identified potential ties to Timmins, the Greater Toronto Area, Québec and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Investigators are appealing to anyone with information in these regions to contact police," states a news release from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
A joint $100,000 reward is being offered by the Government of the Province of Ontario and the York Regional Police for information that will lead to Elnaz's whereabouts.
"Elnaz's family and friends have endured years of missed memories, celebrations and holidays without her and we remain committed to finding the answers they deserve," said Detective Inspector Steven Martell of the OPP's criminal investigations branch, in a news release. "While we cannot speak to the specific ties our investigation has to several regions, we know someone in those areas has information that could help and urge them to come forward."
Elnaz is described as approximately 160 cm (5'3") tall with a slim build and black hair.
