Teen arrested for string of arsons in Elliot Lake

The East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police have made an arrest for a string of arsons dating back from more than a year ago.

In a Nov. 25 news release, the OPP said one person was arrested in relation to numerous fires in Elliot Lake between Sept. 24, 2024 and July 8, 2025.

“Police investigated a series of arsons which occurred in the City of Elliot Lake resulting in numerous structure and motor vehicle fires,” police said in a news release. “After a lengthy and comprehensive investigation, the OPP arrested a person on November 24.”

The 19-year-old from Elliot Lake is charged with four counts of arson causing damage to property.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on Nov. 25.
