Sudbury Skating Club makes donation to PetSave

The 74 participants in the club’s annual Christmas Ice Show raised $576 to support the work of the animal rescue group

The young skaters who are part of the Sudbury Skating Club used their annual holiday show to raise funds for a local animal rescue organization.

The Dec. 14 Christmas Ice Show had 74 participants, ranging in age from five to 18, all performing to Christmas songs. Twenty-one numbers were performed during the event, which included solo and group performances, as well as the ever popular “dad’s line”.

The annual show donates the admission proceeds to a charity every year. This year, PetSave was the charity of choice, and $576 was donated to support the organization’s work.

Held Sunday Dec 24 at 12:45 at Cambrian arena

“We always have a Christmas show and a year end show and collect donations to different charities. Each show we choose a different charity,” the club told Sudbury.com “In the past, we have donated to (Maison McCulloch) Hospice, (the Canadian) cancer (Society), (Ontario) SPCA and Heart and Stroke (Foundation. The coaches in our club are animal lovers so we include those organizations in our rotation.”
