A man arrested for a third time in three months was caught breaching court-ordered conditions while carrying some $30,000 worth of illegal drugs, Greater Sudbury Police said in a Nov. 19 news release.
At around 10:40 p.m. on Nov. 18, GSPS said officers were conducting a compliance check on a high-risk individual “currently bound by multiple court-ordered release conditions including house arrest” when police spotted the man outside of his residence.
“Officers conducted a traffic stop on Brady Street and Grey Street and took the individual into custody without incident,” police said.
GSPS reports a search of the man turned up approximately 252 grams of suspected fentanyl, 25 grams of suspected cocaine, 21 grams of suspected crack cocaine and 10 Oxycodone pills, as well as $2,500 in cash. The estimated street value of the drugs is $30,000, GSPS said.
The 29-year-old man was arrested and charged with
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x3
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Breach of Release Order
He was held in custody overnight for a Nov. 19 hearing, at which he was remanded into custody.
“We would like to commend the ongoing efforts of our Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) and Integrated Crime Section to holding high-risk offenders accountable and removing dangerous drugs from our community,” GSPS said in a news release. “This is the third time this individual has been arrested in the past three months for illicit drug-trafficking offences.”
