Just in time for the holiday season, the Queen’s Athletic Skating Oval opens Dec. 22.

Located at 30 Cypress St., the municipal skating oval is slated to open for the season at 4 p.m. today, the city announced in a media release issued this afternoon.

Weather permitting, hours of operation are Monday to Friday, from 4-10 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 12-10 p.m. The Oval will be closed on Christmas Day but open Boxing Day.

Hockey, ringette and shinny are not permitted on the skating oval. Schools and community groups are asked to call 311 for reservations.

Due to fluctuations in temperatures, hours of operation may change without notice. For updates, visit greatersudbury.ca/outdoorinks.

The city’s other big skating attraction, the Ramsey Lake Skating Path, typically opens sometime in January. Last winter, it opened on Jan. 24.
