Greater Sudbury Police are reporting they have seized guns, drugs and $150,000 in cash from a residence in Estaire. Police said a 55-year-old man was arrested and is now facing several counts of possession and theft over $5000.
It was on Jan. 10 that officers in patrol operations began an investigation into a person believed to be unlawfully in possession of multiple firearms, states a release from GSPS.
Based on the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence on Elbow Lake Road in Estaire where they found a handgun, a revolver and a rifle, as well as 83.9 grams of what is believed to be cocaine, drugs trafficking items and approximately $150,000 in cash.
The estimated value of the drugs seized is $8,390.
The 55-year-old man has been charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Criminal Code of Canada;
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm - three counts
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm - three counts
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo - two counts
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
- Careless Use of Firearm
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
The 55-year-old man was in bail court on Jan. 12 to answer to the charges.
