Police arrest two, seize $31K in drugs from Demorest Ave. apartment

Two people are in custody and more than $31,000 in illegal drugs are off the streets after Greater Sudbury Police executed a search warrant at a Demorest Avenue apartment building on Jan. 13.

GSPS said investigation led to the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at an apartment in the building by the Emergency Response Unit and the Canine Unit. Two people were arrested at the scene.

“Officers searched both individuals and the residence, locating and seizing approximately 97 grams of cocaine, 235 grams of fentanyl, 44 oxycodone pills, and $12,175 in cash,” GSPS said in a news release. “The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $31,000.”

A 21-year-old from Southern Ontario (no specific community provided) and a 21-year-old from Sudbury were arrested at the scene and are each charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x3
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Fail to comply with undertaking x 2 (both individuals are currently before the courts on prior drug-related offences from 2025)

Both individuals will attend bail court Jan. 14 to answer to the charges.
