With his face painted with white stripes and dots, Emmanuel Doe said he “just wanted to feel the African vibe.”
Between brightly coloured regalia, an eclectic mix of musical performances and various dishes for sale in the food vendor area, there was a distinct African vibe at Bell Park during the weekend.
On both Friday evening and all day Saturday, the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre hosted Afrofest, an annual festival that comes free of charge and aims at celebrating African culture through music, food, dance, fashion, art and craft.

Their goal is to celebrate, share, and sustain the rich Afro culture and heritage, festival organizer Bayode Gegeoju.
Afrofest Sudbury is a not-for-profit organization, and the event has been hosted since 2018.
“Afrofest Sudbury is committed to multiculturalism and diversity through art and culture toward economic development and social well-being of the community,” according to their website.
