Miranda Mackie will take on a new role at the City of Greater Sudbury, promoted to director of children and social services, according to a press release from the city. She previously held the title of manager of children services.
Following a recruitment process, Ms. Mackie was selected for the permanent role “based on her extensive experience, strong leadership and commitment to inclusion and quality outcomes for children and families,” states the release.
Mackie holds a BA in Psychology and a master’s degree in Organizational Psychology and brings more than 28 years of experience in early learning and child care to the position, said the city release. “As previous Manager of Children Services, she successfully led the local implementation of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care plan and oversaw the integration of EarlyON sites through the Hub Service Integration (HSI) model.”
“Miranda is a forward‑thinking leader with a proven ability to strengthen services and build partnerships that support residents across our community,” said Tyler Campbell, general manager of community well‑being, in a release. Campbell previously held the title of director, which Mackie now fills. “Her dedication to collaboration, innovation and service excellence makes her an outstanding choice for this role.”
Mackie said in the release she was “honoured to step into this role” and that she looked forward to working with community members, agency partners and colleagues “to advance full human service integration.”
“Together, we will continue building seamless, inclusive systems that strengthen support for individuals and ensure everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive,” she said in the release.
As the director, Mackie will oversee the City’s Children and Social Services department, which includes child care and early learning. She begins her new role effective December 22.
