Greater Sudbury Police have released the name of the man who died suddenly in Bell Park July 31 with the hopes of receiving additional information to aid in their investigation of his death.
Police have confirmed the identity of the individual who was located deceased as 36-year old Pat Forgues. With the family’s permission, the Greater Sudbury Police Service is releasing his name in order to obtain additional information to progress the investigation.
Police are asking anyone who may have had interactions with Pat Forgues on the evening of July 30 to please come forward. Police are also asking anyone who was present at Bell Park in the early morning hours of July 31 to come forward.
Anyone with information relating to this matter is asked to call the Greater Sudbury Police Service at 705-675-9171.
Sudbury police say that shortly after 6 a.m. July 31, officers were dispatched to an area near the large gazebo northeast of the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre in Bell Park to assist paramedics.
Information provided was that Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services were on scene for an individual who required medical attention. Upon arrival, paramedics determined that the individual was deceased.
At the time, the identity of the individual was unknown, and detectives with the Major Crime Section of the Greater Sudbury Police Criminal Investigation Division were working in collaboration with the Coroner’s Office.
A portion of Bell Park was blocked off to the public on July 31 as police conducted their investigation. Following the park’s reopening, police said in a tweet that there was "no threat to public safety."
An obituary for Pat (or Patrice) Forgues said he would be “remembered as a gentle soul that had a heart of gold” and that “he would give his shirt off his back to help anyone he could.”
“Heaven gained another angel way too soon, your fight is over!” the obituary continued. "You will be terribly missed by everyone who knew you. Swim with the fish and fly with the birds. You’re ‘free now.’”
The obituary said there would be a celebration of life at the family plot in Casselman, Ont. and a local celebration for close family and friends. The family requested memorial donations to Mama Nat and Kaylee’s Outreach.
“They helped my brother in so many ways and many other community members,” said the obituary.
