The Sudbury Five have announced that Guan Ziyu, a guard from the Guangzhou Loong Lions in China, will wear Sudbury colours for the 2025/26 Basketball Super League season.

Sudbury’s home opener is tonight against the Lake Erie Jackals. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. Before the game a special ceremony will raise the BSL Championship banner into the rafters at Sudbury Arena.

Guan Ziyu comes to North America after playing at Peking University, where he won the CUBAL D1 Championship and was named Finals MVP, the Five said in a news release.

The tall guard appeared in three preseason games against NBA teams before the 2025- 26 season, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Los Angeles Clippers and the San Antonio Spurs.
