A resident of Field is facing multiple charges after police conducted a traffic stop on the ATV he was driving on Larocque Street in Field on Monday.
At around 8:20 p.m., West Nipissing Ontario Provincial Police spotted the ATV, noting that it had no rear lights, according to an OPP news release.
The driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the detachment for further testing.
“Further investigation found the driver to be a prohibited driver and a search of the ATV located open liquor,” OPP said in the release.
As a result, the 53-year-old-man from Field was charged with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
- Drive motor vehicle - no licence
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Feb. 5, 2026, in North Bay.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 45-days.
