A video is making the rounds on X.com, purportedly showing a fight in the lower concourse at Sudbury Arena during the Jan. 2 game between the Sudbury Wolves and North Bay Battalion.

The rivalry between the Sudbury Wolves and the North Bay Battalion is longstanding and things can get pretty heated when the two teams meet.

That fact was evident at Friday night’s home game at Sudbury Arena when, according to a video circulating on X.com, the rivalry may have spilled over into fisticuffs in front of a concession stand in the lower concourse of the building.

A video of the purported altercation was shared on X.com by user @SteveMcLean888, although it doesn’t appear he is the person who filmed the fight. Sudbury.com has reached out to that account for additional information about the source of the video.

Sudbury.com has also reached out to Greater Sudbury Police Service to determine if a police investigation has been launched. Messages have also been left with both the Sudbury Wolves and North Bay Battalion organizations for their response to the incident.

It’s not clear from the video what started the fight or if those fighting are rival fans.

You can watch the video below.

The video has been seen nearly 100,000 times since being posted to X.com on Jan. 3 at 5:18 p.m. The post has more than 50 comments as of this writing.

“Sudbury Saturday Night” jokes abound in the thread, with a few joking fights are supposed to happen on Saturdays in Sudbury, not Fridays.

The top comment in the thread, and the first to joke about Sudbury Saturday nights, came from none other than well-known hockey writer, and Nickel City native, Ken Campbell.

“That stuff isn't supposed to happen until Saturday night in Sudbury. #iykyk,” Campbell joked.

X.com user @PugissaPug said the fight happened right in front of them.

“Happend right in front of me while I was working in the consession, just some drunks having a heated argument lead to that, super scary,” they posted.

As well, given that the popular Crave show “Shoresy” is filmed in Sudbury, a show that many say perfectly encapsulates Northern Ontario hockey culture, jokes abounded about that too.

“Probably watched a little too much Shoresy,” @blovey3131 wrote.

Other commenters in the thread made the “Shoresy” joke while offering a little criticism.
