Club Richelieu distributes 130 baskets for Christmas

Annual tradition sees food baskets overflowing with goodies distributed to families in need

Club Richelieu Les Patriotes maintained a Christmas tradition this weekend, putting together some 130 food baskets to families in need.

Club members and many of their family members spent their Saturday at École St-Joseph putting the baskets together, which will be distributed to local families.

“The Richelieu Patriotes members, with the support of family members and friends, will sort through hundreds of boxes of food and prepare the baskets that will be distributed to some 130 families in need,” the club said in a news release. “Included will be food items that will allow these families to celebrate Christmas with dignity. Food items in the basket include: ham, tourtière, vegetables, fruits, canned goods, coffee, etc.”

For more than 35 years, Club Richelieu has kept the Christmas basket tradition. The club estimates that over that time more than 3,650 baskets have been distributed.
