Earlier this month, SPACES, Sudbury’s hyper-local social network, kicked off a friendly community challenge to rally support in 13 communities and raise awareness for hospice care across Ontario.
Thanks to the support of Sault Ste. Marie residents, ARCH Hospice received $5,000 for hospice care by winning the Hearts for Hospice community challenge on SPACES.
The donation will help support the hospice’s programs, which include residential care, grief support groups, counselling and programs for children and youth coping with loss. Since opening its doors 18 years ago, the hospice has cared for more than 2,500 residents and their families.
Like so many hospices throughout Ontario, ARCH is only partially government funded and relies on community support, making donations and fundraising events critical for their operations.
Thousands of community members joined the challenge, bringing more people together in SPACES, where your neighbourhood is at the centre of your feed. Make sure to join SPACES to be the first to know when we launch our next community challenge!
