Nestled in the former St. Mary’s School in Capreol, among other retail operations, is yoga studio, Metamorphosis. It’s owned by Elizabeth Lessard, who you might see riding an orange e-bike with a long skirt whipping in the wind on her way to work.
You may also see her beloved pooch, Trixie.
And while the location is a new one for the studio, which originally opened in 2018 in Val Caron but was hit hard by the pandemic, the mission is the same, said Lessard.
“Our mission is to transform people's lives, one class or workshop at a time; increasing wellness and peace of mind.”
Lessard said that while she had a long list of clients at the former location, and was “starting to build momentum,” but the obstacles were too many and the decision was made to relocate to a more affordable location in Capreol.
“This meant losing a substantial client base, due to distance, however, slow and steady, we are rebuilding,” said Lessard. “Classes are small, and we are hoping more people find us and commit to their own personal wellness. As a mom providing for her family, I'm hoping business picks up,” she said.
The yoga classes are offered five days a week, morning, noon, afternoon and evening. Weekly yoga classes and beginner yoga are gentle yoga classes focusing on breathwork, stretching and alignment, improving strength, flexibility and stability on your feet.
Chair yoga classes are offered twice per week (morning and afternoon) and offer a casual way to socialize, improve flexibility and build strength.
There are also a variety of classes including guided painting events, dancing, Tai Chi, various crafting workshops, kids programming, along with card readings and “energy work” such as group and “individual energy-clearing sessions, and group and individual “channeling sessions”.
And if you’re open to it, you can meet Trixie, trusted canine companion and official greeter. Lessard said the dog waits for yoga students to arrive and once they have come into the studio, she pays everyone a visit. “Students look forward to their pet therapy, and some even bring her treats,” said Lessard. “She has been known to lick a few toes if the participant is willing, and there are always plenty of laughs when this happens.”
Lessard recommends keeping an eye on the Metamorphosis Facebook page for updated schedules or special events, and you can find that here.
Metamorphosis is also open to groups and corporate clients who might want to have meditation or yoga as part of their wellness programs. Inquiries can be forwarded to 705-561-8912, email [email protected] or private message via the Metamorphosis Facebook page.
