After their Free for All initiative over the summer of 2025 which brought free Shakespeare to the city, YES Theatre is kicking off the holiday season by partnering with Laking Toyota to raise $20,000 on Giving Tuesday.
With Laking matching every dollar up to $10,000, YES Theatre is looking to the community to support those who may not find theatre accessible in these times.
Theatre is community, it is an act of coming together, said a press release. It is healing, teaching and learning and the stories we share belong to everyone. “Art is for everyone, theatre is for everybody, theatre for all!” said the press release.
Free for All brought the most diverse audiences to the theatre and offered life-changing experiences to so many.
“I just wanted to express my heartfelt thanks for the incredible opportunity to attend A Midsummer Night’s Dream through the Free for All ticket initiative,” said a patron who took part in the 2025 program.
“It was, quite simply, magical. The energy, the talent, the staging—it was one of the most delightful and enchanting productions I’ve ever seen. Shakespeare’s timeless humour and imagination came alive in such a vivid, joyful way, and I left the theatre feeling completely uplifted.
“What made the experience even more special was how accessible it was. I attended with a friend who hadn’t seen live theatre in a while, and watching their face light up throughout the performance reminded me just how powerful and transformative theatre can be.
The Free for All initiative didn’t just give us tickets; it gave us a shared memory, a spark of joy, and a deeper connection to our city’s cultural heartbeat. This initiative made it possible, and the experience was unforgettable.
“I truly believe this initiative is vital. It brings people together, invites new voices into the theatre, and reinvigorates our sense of community. Please know you have my full support in continuing this kind of programming, and I hope you’ll be able to share the success of this effort widely. What you’re doing matters — and it’s working.Thank you for leading with heart and purpose — I hope this program continues to grow and inspire!”
The community can donate to the Theatre for All Giving Tuesday campaign at yestheatre.com or in person at the Sudbury Theatre Centre.
