Sudbury Wolves forward Jan Chovan scored his fifth goal of the season in the Pack's 5-2 loss to the Barrie Colts on Nov. 19.

Coming off of a 2-1 victory against the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday to snap a seven-game losing streak, the Sudbury Wolves were hoping for a win the Barrie Colts on Nov. 19, but despite a strong offensive showing, the team couldn’t crack goalie Ben Hrebik.

Dropping the game 5-2, the Pack’s record falls to 5-16-1.

Owen Leonard got the start in net for the Sudbury Wolves.

Just under halfway through the first period at Sudbury Arena, Barrie’s Justin Handsor scored his first goal of the season, giving the Colts a 1-0 lead, the only goal of the first period.

Moving onto the second period, Wolves Captain Nathan Villeneuve scored on the power play, with the assists going to Kieron Walton and Jan Chovan, tying the game 1-1.

Less than a minute later, the Colts regained the lead thanks to Emil Hemming’s fourth goal of the season, with the assists going to Cole Beaudoin and William Schneid, making the score 2-1 for the Colts, heading into the final period of play.

With 9:30 left to play in the third, and with Barrie’s Evan Passmore serving a two-minute minor for holding, Jan Chovan found the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season, assisted by Villeneuve and Artem Gonchar, to tie the game once again at two goals apiece.

That would mark the end of Sudbury’s scoring in this game.

Cole Emerton scored his first goal of the season for Barrie while on the power play, with Artem Gonchar in the penalty box for holding, assisted by Cole Beaudoin and Emil Hemming, allowing Barrie to retake the lead once again by a score of 3-2 at the 12:37 mark of the third period.

Just 13 seconds later, Calvin Crombie scored his sixth goal of the season, with the lone assist going to Kashawn Aitcheson, giving the Barrie Colts some insurance in the form of a 4-2 lead.

Jonah  McCormick sealed the 5-2 victory for the Barrie Colts with an empty net goal with just two seconds remaining in the hockey game, assisted by Jaiden Newton.

The Sudbury Wolves look to rebound on Friday night with a home game against the defending Memorial Cup Champions, the London Knights, with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
