sudburyThe Sudbury Wolves were back on home ice on Friday night looking to get one back against the Barrie Colts five days after an 8-2 drubbing from the Brampton Steelheads.
Arvin Jaswal got the start in goal for the Barrie Colts while rookie Bjorn Bronas once again was the starting goaltender for the hometown Sudbury Wolves.
Not even five minutes into the contest, Kieron Walton got the scoring started for the Pack, with his 14th goal of the season, assisted by Artem Gonchar, putting the Sudbury Wolves on top 1-0.
At the 9:42 mark of the opening period, Rowan Henderson scored his fifth goal of the season, with the assists going to Gavin Ewles and Blake Clayton, increasing Sudbury’s lead to 2-0 after one period of play.
Just over halfway through the second, and with Brady Smith of the Wolves serving a five-minute major along with a game misconduct for a check to the head, the Colts capitalized on the power play, with Kashawn Aitcheson’s 17th goal of the season, assisted by Emil Hemming and Brad Gardiner, cutting Sudbury’s lead to 2-1.
With 4:18 to go in the middle frame, Blake Clayton helped the Wolves restore their two-goal lead with his fourth goal of the season, with Artem Gonchar and Ethan Dean picking up the assists, making the score 3-1 for Sudbury.
One minute and five seconds later, William Schneid picked up his seventh goal of the season, with the assists going to Alex Assadourian and Kashawn Aitcheson, once again making it a one goal game, with Sudbury leading 3-2.
With just one second left in the second, and with Barrie’s Bode Stewart serving a minor penalty for roughing, Daniel Berehowsky scored his third goal of the season on the power play, assisted by Jan Chovan and Kieron Walton, once again giving the Sudbury Wolves a two lead by a score of 4-2.
Barely one minute into the third, and with Cole Beaudoin serving a minor penalty for interference, Wolves rookie Jan Chovan scored his sixth goal of the season, this one also on the power play, increasing the Wolves lead to 5-2.
At the 17:08 mark of the third, Ethan Dean was serving a two-minute minor for holding, when Kashawn Aitcheson scored on the power play, his second goal of the game, assisted by Cole Beaudoin and Emil Hemming, making the score 5-3 for the Wolves.
The Wolves capped off a 6-3 win with 2:21 left in the game, with Walton’s second of the game, assisted by Alex Pharand and Luca Blonda.
The Sudbury Wolves travel to Brampton for a game against the Brampton Steelheads today, with puck drop scheduled for 4 p.m.
