Sudbury Wolves forward Daniel Berehowsky (pictured here in a game from earlier this year against the Erie Otters, picked up his fourth goal of the season in the team's 6-2 loss to the Guelph Storm on Nov. 30.

Coach Scott Barney and the Sudbury Wolves headed to Guelph on Sunday to go head-to-head with former Pack head coach Cory Stillman and his Storm. Unfortunately, the game did not go according to Barney’s plan.

The struggling Wolves went into the game coming off a two-game win streak, and with a record of 8-17-1.

Red hot rookie Bjorn Bronas was the starting goaltender for the Sudbury Wolves and Zachary Jovanovski was between the pipes for the Guelph Storm.

Just 1:38 into the game, Charlie Paquette scored his ninth goal of the season with a shot from the point, assisted by Rylan Singh and Grant Spada to give Guelph a 1-0 lead on their first shot of the game.

Just 12 seconds later, Guelph’s Hunter McKenzie put the puck behind Bronas with a bad angle shot for his seventh goal of the season, with Parker Snelgrove picking up the assist, giving the Guelph Storm two goals on two shots and a 2-0 lead.

After the second goal, Wolves’ Head Coach Scott Barney replaced Bronas with backup goalie Karsen Chartier.

With 39 seconds remaining in the opening period, Carter Stevens scored his eighth goal of the season after taking a long pass from a teammate, with the assist going to Quinn Beauchesne, putting the Guelph Storm on top by a 3-0 scored after the first 20 minutes of play.

Kieron Walton gave Sudbury a much needed spark not even two minutes into the second period, scoring his 17th goal of the season picking up a rebound, assisted by Jan Chovan, making the score 3-1 for the Guelph Storm.

Less than two minutes later, Sudbury got closer to the Storm when Daniel Berehowsky picked up a loose puck right in front of the Storm net and scored his fourth of the season, with the assist going to Walton, making the score 3-2 for Guelph.

With 7:51 remaining in the middle frame, Carter Stevens scored his second goal of the game after picking up a Wolves giveaway, with Christopher Soares getting the assist, increasing the Storm’s lead to 4-2.

At the 16:25 mark of the second, Simon Belohorsky scored an unassisted goal for Guelph on a breakaway, his second goal of the season, making the score 5-2 for the Guelph Storm heading into the third period.

The only goal of the third period came at the 1:58 mark of the period, when Belohorsky scored his second of the game taking advantage of a Wolves turnover, also an unassisted goal, sealing a 6-2 victory for the Guelph Storm over the Sudbury Wolves.

The Sudbury Wolves travel back home to Sudbury for a game against the Sarnia Sting, on Dec. 5, with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
