NEW TECUMSETH — The driver of a tractor trailer got an icy reception from police after they failed to clear off the top of their truck yesterday.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 17), officers from the Nottawasaga OPP detachment stopped a transport truck on Highway 89 in New Tecumseth. It had a large block of snow and ice on the trailer roof, police say.

The driver was charged with carrying an insecure load on a commercial motor vehicle.

“Ice and snow falling from vehicles can create serious hazards for other road users,” OPP Central Region said in a social-media post issued Thursday. “Please take the time to properly clear your vehicle before hitting the road.

"Safety starts before the wheels move.”
