Greater Sudbury Police is commending the officers that were involved in a traffic stop and arrest on Nov. 2 “for their diligence in ensuring the safe apprehension of two high-risk individuals.”
At around 7:50 p.m. on Nov. 2, GSPS officers on patrol observed a vehicle that had been involved in a flight-from-police incident earlier this year.
“Officers in a marked cruiser followed the vehicle until it was safe to conduct a traffic stop,” GSPS said in a news release. “Officers used two marked police cruisers to block the vehicle in while in a parking lot on Regent Street.”
GSPS said officers noticed signs of impairment when speaking with the driver. What’s more, after identifying both the driver and the passenger, police learned the driver was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants from the Ontario Provincial Police and was a suspended driver, and they also learned the passenger was breaching several release conditions.
As if that wasn’t enough, police report officer could see drug paraphernalia in plain sight inside the vehicle.
Both individuals were arrested.
“Upon searching the individuals, officers located over 11 grams of what is believed to be fentanyl with an approximate street value of $1,140,” the news release states. “Due to the suspected impairment of the driver, a Drug Recognition Expert completed an evaluation and determined the driver was impaired by drugs.”
The 32-year-old female driver is charged with:

The passenger, a 30-year-old man is charged with:
