Lawyer named new Sudbury Chamber chair

A host of newly named directors for the coming year were also recently voted in

There is a new board of directors for the 2025-2026 business year at the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce

The chamber announced this week that new board members have been appointed and elected. At the same time, the board announced Sudbury lawyer Zachary Courtemanche as chair of the board of directors for the same period. 

The chamber organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors, representing a broad cross-section of the local business community, said a chamber news release. 

The board is composed of elected directors serving two-year terms and appointed directors serving one-year terms, with each term beginning on July 1 and concluding on June 30 of the following year.

The following business community leaders have been elected by the Chamber membership to serve a two-year term:

  • Anthony Davis (Greater Sudbury Plumbing & HVAC);
  • Zachary Courtemanche (Weaver, Simmons LLP);
  • Josée Gatien (NFP Canada, an AON Company);
  • Daniel Giroux (Collège Boréal);
  • Max Massimiliano (Don’s Pizzeria);
  • Layna O’Connell (Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations, a Glencore Company).

Those board members will join six returning directors beginning the second of their two-year elected term:

  • Katie Bissonette (Mansour Group Inc.);
  • Kate Bowman (Centreline Architecture);
  • Joanne LeBreton (Baker Tilly SNT);
  • Neil Milner (4M Mining Consulting Inc.);
  • Tracy Nutt (Build North/ServiceMaster of Sudbury);
  • Fred Slade (Fred Slade and Associates).
  • Five directors have been appointed to the Board for a one-year term:
  • Alex Bertuzzi (Reliable Cleaning Services);
  • Karen Mathewson (Agilis Networks);
  • Mark Prystupa (Vale Base Metals);
  • Nick Stewart (Wahnapitae First Nation);
  • Past Chair Trevor Lalonde (Fisher Wavy Inc.) – automatic appointment.

The chamber also announced the 2025/2026 executive council is as follows:

  • Zachary Courtemanche (Chair);
  • Joanne LeBreton (First Vice Chair);
  • Layna O’Connell (Second Vice Chair);
  • Neil Milner (Treasurer);
  • Trevor Lalonde (Past Chair);
  • Marie Litalien (President and CEO);

Board chair Courtemanche commented on the importance of the organization for Sudbury.

“The work we do as a chamber matters deeply to our members and to the community we serve,” said Courtemanche. 

“As chair, I’m confident that the strength of this year’s board will be a tremendous asset as we continue to prepare, advocate, celebrate and engage with our members and the community, all at the pace of business."

The Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce represents almost 800 member businesses. Guided by its 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, the chamber is dedicated to supporting a resilient, innovative and prosperous business environment. Its mission is to serve its members by influencing government, encouraging connections and delivering relevant services that drive our city's economic growth for our collective success, said the news release.
