Sudbury hockey history guy Mike Commito is launching a new book-signing drive that will give a boost to the Health Sciences North Foundation.

It might also solve some people's quest for a Christmas gift for that hard-to-please hockey fan.

“From Nov. 15 to Dec. 15 I will be personally selling copies of my Leafs, Habs, and Bruins books,” he said.

“For every book I sell in that window, I will donate $3.65 per book to HSN. I will also deliver the books to anyone who orders from within Sudbury (email: [email protected]).”

By day Commito is an academic at Cambrian College, but the rest of his time he is an avid fan of all things hockey. Commito has authored no less than five books on the subject.

Along with stories on the game itself, the books also carry the theme 365 — books that relate compelling stories of people and events related to hockey for every day of the year.

His books - “Hockey 365,” “Hockey 365 The Second Period,” “Leafs 365,” “Habs 365” and “Bruins 365” — are regarded by many fans as a treasure trove of hockey memories related to some of the game's favourite teams, Hall of Famers and Stanley Cup winners over the years.

Commito is not ashamed to say he is a faithful fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, but he will also admit there are some amazing hockey stories and anecdotes related to the NHL legacy teams such as the Montreal Canadiens and the Boston Bruins.

The latest book drive will take place from Nov. 15 through to Dec. 15 said Commito.

He will also host book-signing events to take place at Health Sciences North, in the hospital lobby, on Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and again on Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
