Dear Friend of The Sudbury Food Bank,

The Banque d’aliments Sudbury Food Bank’s mission is to ensure that every Sudburian has enough food to eat. We have fought hunger in our community thanks largely to people like you—people who understand the importance of putting food on the table—people who wanted and were willing to do something about it. With the huge costs of food, housing, and utilities there are many new visitors to our member agencies as families strive to make ends meet. These families have had to make difficult choices and many are eating less and fewer times a day. The ever increasing amount of need continue to put significant strain on our resources. Frankly, in this new normal we face, delivering food services to those that are hungry is stretching the resources of our member agencies and ourselves to the limit.

We know most people are hurting to a degree but that does not mean we should not consider continuing to try to help if it is possible to do so and so we are requesting your help, please, if you are in a position to offer assistance to the hungry in our communities.

Every month thousands of people and families access food help through one of our 38 Member Agencies across the Greater Sudbury Region. We are very proud of the work these partners put in every day on the front line of the fight against hunger. These agencies not only give food, they give hope and dignity. Thanks to your support help is available to those in need through food banks in all areas of Sudbury.

Your donation will assist every one of them in making a difference to someone in need through the challenges brought on just by life. Along with direct transfers of funds from the money we raise to our member agencies individual food buying funds at local partner grocery stores the money we raise is also used to buy milk, bread, meat and other essential pantry supplies for our entire network. All funds raised stay in the Sudbury Region.

We know you can understand hunger, because everyone has been hungry at some time. Maybe it was a diet, a Lenten fast, or just a busy day and you did not have time to eat. Unfortunately, the people we help do not miss meals out of choice; they miss meals because there is simply not enough food in their home.

The Sudbury Food Bank believes every person, young or old, has a right to eat and your donation will make a real difference. Please let us share your generosity with your hungry neighbours and thank you in advance for your response to this request.
