The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra (SSO), in partnership with Place des Arts and local theatre artists, presents a special theatrical symphony concert for young audiences on Oct. 26.
Vivaldi’s Ring of Mystery is a live performance of the beloved Classical Kids production of the same name. The concert blends theatre, mystery, history and music, to spark curiosity and wonder in children ages five and up.
Presented in both English and French (2 p.m. in English, 4 p.m. in French), the story follows a young orphan girl in 18th-century Venice who sets out to uncover the secrets of her past.
Along the way, she encounters the genius of composer Antonio Vivaldi, and the mystery of a missing Stradivarius violin.
Audiences will hear more than 25 excerpts from Vivaldi’s greatest works, including The Four Seasons, the Violin Concerto in A minor, and the Guitar Concerto — all woven seamlessly into the story’s dramatic unfolding.
“Many of us grew up listening to the Classical Kids stories,” said Yvanna Mycyk, executive director and violinist of the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra.
“They’re an extraordinary way to bring music history to life — and to help young people experience the emotional power and joy of classical music.”
Sudbury actors France Huot and Neve Houle, and director Gaia Dhatt, bring the tale to life on stage, alongside musicians from the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra.
The SSO is pleased to present this special afternoon at Sudbury’s Place des Arts, where every seat offers young audience members a close view of the stage. There is also space in the lobby for attendees to meet some of the instruments of the orchestra up close.
The dramatic and mysterious Venetian setting matches the late-October mood, perfect for a fun and cultural autumn adventure.
️Tickets start at just $10 for children and are available now through the SSO’s website.
The theatre fills up fast — advance reservations are strongly recommended.
