Three people are facing weapons charges after an early morning firearms complaint in Val Caron on Sunday.
Greater Sudbury Police said that at around 6:15 a.m. on Nov. 2, officers were dispatched to a weapons complaint outside a residence on Municipal Road 80 in Val Caron. According to the complaint, three people were outside a home in possession of a firearm.
“Officers attended the area and upon seeing police, the individuals fled on foot,” GSPS said in a news release. “Two of the individuals, a 52-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, were immediately taken into custody by police. The third individual fled into the bush.”
At the scene, GSPS said officers found a bag containing a shotgun, which police said the suspects had dropped when they spotted police and fled.
“Members of the Emergency Response Unit and K9 Unit attended the area to conduct a track for the third person,” police said. “While conducting the track, officers received information that the individual was inside a residence on Percy Avenue.”
Police set up containment around the residence, the news release states, while a warrant was sought to allow entrance to the residence.
“Around 11:25 a.m., the 37-year-old man exited the residence and surrendered to police without incident,” police said.
A 37-year-old man, a 52-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman have each been charged with:
