Science North hosting regreening event for those age 50+

Event will feature a private screening of ‘Planting Hope: A Regreening Story’, breakfast, a panel discussion and a Q&A

Science North hosts a special 50+ Cinema Social event on Aug. 27 at Dynamic Earth focusing on Sudbury’s regreening story. The documentary “Planting Hope: A Regreening Story” will be the centrepiece of the event, with Science North saying the film “offers hope for a greener future by sharing Greater Sudbury's story of environmental devastation and recovery.”

Science North hosts a special 50+ Cinema Social event on Aug. 27 at Dynamic Earth focusing on Sudbury’s regreening story.

The event aims to bring “the community through generations together to experience film and conversation to inspire real-world environmental action.” 

The documentary “Planting Hope: A Regreening Story” will be the centrepiece of the event, with Science North saying the film “offers hope for a greener future by sharing Greater Sudbury's story of environmental devastation and recovery.”

The 50+ Cinema Social events are designed for those age 50 and over, though the events are open to those of any age.

The Aug. 27 event will feature a private screening of “Planting Hope: A Regreening Story” (presented in English only), breakfast, early access to explore the science centre and free parking.

Following the screening of the film a panel discussion and audience Q&A will highlight the people, science, and community behind Sudbury’s environmental transformation.

The panelists will be: 

  • Tina McCaffrey – Co-ordinator of VETAC, City of Greater Sudbury
  • John Gunn – Researcher, Living with Lakes Centre, Laurentian University
  • Carl Jorgensen – General Manager, Conservation Sudbury
