Sudbury-produced feature film “Fidelity” holds its premiere at Sudbury Indie Cinema at 7 p.m. tonight (Sept. 19).
Intended for mature audiences, the film was produced, written and directed by Sudbury filmmaker B. P. Paquette, and features local performers, including Franco-Ontarian theatre director-actor-academic Hélène Dallaire, and YES Theatre members Alessandro Costantini, Ruthie Nkut and Katie Wise.
Distributed by Toronto-based Indiecan Entertainment, Fidelity is a comedic drama featuring Dora, a woman in her mid-30s who finds herself stuck in a loveless marriage, and stumbling into an affair with another man, who, like Dora, is not single, and whose former student, Stacy, further complicates his life.
Set during the casting call for a movie-within-a-movie which is also titled “Fidelity,” the film “contemplates the meanings of fiction, authorship, autobiography and reality.”
The film is also streaming on Apple TV. Watch the trailer here.
A press release about the film says “Fidelity” is the first mostly animated feature to be produced in Northern Ontario. While the film is mostly in the English language, there are key scenes and sequences in French with English subtitles.
The film’s music score and soundscapes are provided by Franco-Ontarian audio artist Daniel Bédard.
“Fidelity” was produced with the financial participation of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund
(NOHFC), Ontario Creates, Hollywood Suite, and Paquette’s Next Phase Motion Pictures.
The screening runs at 7 p.m. on Sept. 19 at Sudbury Indie Cinema, 162 MacKenzie St. Tickets are $12.
Even though this event is not part of Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival 2025, anyone who presents a Cinéfest 2025 passport/ticket will be admitted to this screening free of charge.
