As search efforts continue for Juanita Migwans, a $50,000 reward for information is being offered by the provincial government, as the United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Police Service Commission (UCCM Police) and the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue their investigation.
Migwans, who is from M’Chigeeng, was first reported missing on Oct. 7, 2024. UCCM Police received a report of a missing person, identified as 31-year-old Migwans of M'Chigeeng. She was last seen walking on Riverside Drive in the Manitoulin Island community on Oct. 4, 2024.
Foul play cannot be ruled out in her disappearance, the notice about the reward states.
She is an Indigenous woman with a slim build, standing approximately 5-6 and weighing around 110 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.
The province is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the disappearance, and the investigation is ongoing conducted by the Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit in conjunction with UCCM Police, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
