BARRIE — Police in Barrie, Ont., said they would have a "significant" presence Friday and Saturday in the area of a home where a child was found dead on New Year’s Eve.
They say the discovery was made after officers responded to a call for a well-being check at a house on Bayview Avenue near Little Avenue around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Police have said the child's mother, a 47-year-old woman, was also found in the home and was taken to hospital where she remains.
They say the force's major crime and forensic identification units will be on scene throughout the next few days.
Police say updates will only be provided as the investigation permits.
They have said there is no risk to public safety.
