Humane Canada, the federation of SPCAs and humane societies, has launched its first-ever national walkathon, "Pawsitive Strides: Canada's Ultimate Walk for Animals."
This virtual event, running until Sept. 20, aims to support animal welfare initiatives across the country and welcomes participants from around the world.
Pawsitive Strides invites animal lovers from coast to coast and beyond to participate in a summer-long celebration of movement and compassion.
This inaugural event empowers participants to set personal fundraising and movement goals, encouraging them to rally friends, family, and communities to join the cause.
"We are thrilled to launch Pawsitive Strides and invite participants to get out there and virtually join us in this impactful movement," said Melissa Devlin, manager, annual donor relations and engagement, in a press release.
"Together, we can create meaningful change for animals in Canada and celebrate our shared commitment to their welfare."
Key features of Pawsitive Strides include:
- Global participation: While focused on Canadian animal welfare, the event welcomes participants from around the world.
- Flexible participation options: Participants can walk solo, with pets, or as part of a team.
- Fundraising incentives: Those who raise $100 or more have the chance to win prizes from sponsors, including four 200-level tickets to a Toronto Blue Jays game from Canada Moving, and a $100 gift certificate from Politically Incorrect Pets' online store.
- Direct impact: All funds raised go towards supporting Humane Canada's vital initiatives for animal well-being and protection nationwide.
