Is your home in need of a new four-legged friend? The Greater Sudbury Animal Shelter may be able to hook you up.

The shelter aims to adopt or foster every dog or cat who comes into its care.

Adoption fees are (maximum) $640 for dogs or $320 for cats. Fees include the cost of spaying/neutering, vaccinations, a one-year dog or cat licence, and microchipping.

“Fees may vary depending on the age, health and needs of the pet,” the shelter says on its website. “For example, an elderly cat or dog may be adopted for a lower fee than a kitten or puppy. Appointments are required for all adoptions.”

To adopt a pet, a driver’s licence or identification showing a current address is required.

Today we’re featuring Bailey, which Greater Sudbury Animal Shelter said on social media is a “gentle soul looking for a quiet home.”

“Bailey is back with us after a recent adoption didn’t work out — and while we’re sad she hasn’t found her forever home yet, we’ve learned more about what she truly needs to thrive,” said a post from the shelter.

“Bailey is a super sweet girl with a tender heart. She’s very shy at first and can be easily startled, especially around strangers. We can only imagine what she’s been through to make her so cautious — but once she feels safe, her gentle personality begins to shine.”

The shelter said that to help Bailey feel secure and loved, she needs:

  • A calm, adult-only home
  • A home without other dogs
  • A patient adopter who will give her time to open up

Bailey may take a little while to trust, but she’s worth every moment, said the shelter.

“If you believe in second chances and have a quiet space in your heart and home, Bailey could be your perfect match,” said the post.
