Mayor Paul Lefebvre invites the public to take part in the annual Mayor’s Tree-Lighting Ceremony on the evening of Dec. 5.
“On Friday, December 5, residents are invited to join Mayor Paul Lefebvre and members of Council for a short and festive Tree Lighting Ceremony in the courtyard of Tom Davies Square,” a news release from the city states.
The event begins at 5 p.m.
Enjoy BeaverTails from a food truck, arts and crafts and complimentary hot chocolate at the lighting.
Attendees can take advantage of free GOVA Transit to the event by telling the bus driver you’re going to the ceremony when you board.
The Merry and Bright tree will be lit from Dec. 5 until the week after Orthodox Christmas.
The tree is an artificial spruce standing 26 feet tall and 12 feet in diameter, illuminated by 1,325 high-efficiency warm white LED bulbs that use 80 per cent less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs.
