After test-driving a vehicle at a local dealership, a man was accused of attempting to steal it.

“Employees of the dealership were able to stop the individual from leaving in the vehicle,” according to a media release issued by Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The man “became irate, causing employees to flee inside the dealership,” according to police.

He then forced his way into the dealership, where he stole the keys to another vehicle, which he drove away in.

Detectives from the Break, Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit responded to the area immediately, and with the assistance of patrol officers were able to box in the stolen truck.

A 21-year-old Greater Sudbury man was arrested and charged with several property-related offenses, including Break and Enter, two counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle and Mischief.

He was held in police custody overnight and attended bail court on Tuesday to answer to the charges.

In the same media release announcing the automotive theft, local police also cite the results of an ongoing criminal investigation involving someone from Durham wanted for violent firearm-related offenses who was believed to be in Greater Sudbury.

A BEAR Unit detective located the 28-year-old suspect and conducted surveillance, collaborating with Durham Regional Police Service to arrest them.

During the arrest, police report seizing a loaded firearm, a large sum of cash and approximately $4,000 of cocaine.

The suspect attended court in southern Ontario to answer to the charges.
