Believe it or not, like it or not, winter is here. There are happy thoughts of Christmas and family gatherings, firing up the snowmobile again, waxing up the skis and toboggans or dusting off the snowshoes and don’t forget the ice skates.
Or just enjoying the warmth of our homes and the beauty of the snow-clad scenery.
But, there are a group of dedicated professional people who we rarely hear about or even see much of. These are the homecare people, highly trained nurses and PSW’s.
Many people, after medical treatment in hospital or who have been treated in emergency at the hospital are sent home to further recover. Such individuals are often assigned to “homecare.”
Who are these “homecare” people? I have come learn and appreciate who they are. They are highly skilled and specially trained dedicated nurses and personal support workers (PSWs). They provide treatments and services essential to the recovery of medical patients in their homes.
It is well-documented that many of the best outcomes occur through homecare – in a patient’s home.
These dedicated nurses and PSWs are skilled in being able to treat and care for an endless variety of medical issues. And they add comfort, hope and caring to their patients and solace to the patient’s family, too.
So, through snow, hail, blizzards ice and cold, these homecare workers travel to the homes of their various patients and offer and provide the very best care in the world.
Let us wish these dedicated people who care for us so much that they have a very safe winter, driving through the hazards of the season – for us. You are appreciated beyond all measure.
