Crash on Lasalle extension claims life of 44-year-old man

Lasalle was closed for about 10 hours after three-vehicle crash at around 6:30 a.m. today, police seeking dashcam footage from any vehicles in the area at the time

The three vehicle-crash that closed the Lasalle extension early this morning also claimed the life of a 44-year-old man.

The extension was reopened at around 4 p.m. on June 17.

The preliminary investigation suggests a westbound Dodge Caravan collided on the Lasalle extension with two eastbound vehicles, a Dodge Dart and a Ford F-150.

The 44-year-old driver of the Dart was pronounced dead at the scene. The 43-year-old male driver of the Caravan was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford was uninjured.

GSPS extended condolences to the friends and family of the deceased driver. No other information has been released about the 44-year-old. His name will not be released, police said.

Officers from the GSPS Integrated Traffic Safety Unit remain on the scene to investigate the crash.

Police ask anyone with a dashcam who was travelling on the Lasalle extension between Frood Road and Elm Street between 6-6:20 a.m. today (June 17) is asked to review their footage and contact the GSPS traffic unit "with any relevant information" at 705-675-9171.
