Elisabeth Tyson never intended to become a house painter.
In fact, Elisabeth’s career began in an entirely different industry, until a stroke of fate and a few coats of paint set her on a new path. And Elisabeth never looked back.
As owner of Blush Painting, Elisabeth has a lot to be proud of. It is a business that is entirely managed and supported by women. It is a business that strengthens Indigenous and LGBTQ ties in the Sudbury community. And Blush Painting is a business that was built, from the ground up, by Elisabeth herself.
“I always knew I wanted to go into business. I took business in college and didn't really have a plan after that. But one thing I've always loved is just making people feel good”, says Elisabeth, whose first path led to a career in personal aesthetics. Then one day, while giving a pedicure, the client offered Elisabeth a job with his painting company. “And, you know, instantly I picked up on it and quickly became their top painter, “she says. Now, just six years later, Elisabeth is leading her own team and running a successful business.

A passion for paint, and people
Blush Painting believes every wall tells a story, and their team is driven by a passion to transform spaces through vibrant colours and attention to detail. This commitment is clear in every project and is backed by a deep understanding of how colour does much more than just update a tired space – especially during frosty winter months. “Everyone's feeling kind of down and a little bluesy (in winter),” says Elisabeth. “So, if the home has dark colours, people tend to brighten everything up. It just really boosts the mood at this time of year. And it sends you into a fresh new home for the new year, which is really a nice feeling too.”
This philosophy is backed by research which suggests that the use of colour in décor can go a long way in promoting relaxation, boosting creativity and focus, balancing energy and significantly impacting mood and productivity.
For Elisabeth, those benefits are evident in the faces, and the five-star reviews, of their happy customers. “Seeing these people fall in love with their homes after we're done is so rewarding. And that's all I look for.”

Proudly serving the Sudbury community
As a locally owned company, Blush Painting serves the greater Sudbury community and supports projects like the Nickel Blades Skating Club, Camp Manitou, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation’s ‘Gutsy Runway’. The team gives back in appreciation for the ongoing support they receive from their community, including industry partners and suppliers like Barrydowne Paint, and their loyal customers.
The company’s role in the community is another source of pride for Elisabeth, who already has so much to be admired. “I'm really proud of how I've been able to do all this on my own…the advertising, the bookwork, the managing, the running around, and painting with my employees on top of it, while still taking care of my family and being present in their lives”, she says. “As a young woman, to be able to handle all that. And coming from a small Indigenous community - that on its own, I think, people really look up to. I’ve pushed myself to bigger and better things, and I’m just really proud of that.”
