Described in a press release as a “national treasure with a career that spans over 50 years,” folk musician Ian Tamblyn will perform a house concert in a private home in Sudbury on Sunday, Sept. 21.

All are welcome to attend.

Tamblyn recently received one of this country’s highest honours when he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada “for his enduring contributions as a folk music icon, adventurer, and cultural ambassador for Canada.”

He has received many other awards and nominations, including a Juno award, Canadian Folk Music Awards, as well as recognition for his theatre and film soundtracks. Northern Lights Festival presented Ian with the Jackie Washington Award in 1991.

Many of his songs are inspired by his extensive adventures and travels, which include voyages in the Arctic and Antarctic, canoe trips on Lake Superior, and visiting Haida Gwaii.

Expertly crafted songs are interspersed with insightful stories and humour that audiences find enchanting and spellbinding.

Tamblyn recorded his first album in 1971 and has since released 45 recordings. He has also produced albums for over 30 artists and his songs have been covered by more than 40 other performers. His works also include 17 plays.

The show runs at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21. Tickets and venue details are available online here.
