In loving memory of Cyril “Cy” Clunas who passed away after a short struggle with cancer at the Maison McCoulloch Hospice at the age of 66. Born September 27, 1959 in Montreal, Quebec. Home in Lachine gave Cy the opportunity to graduate from Bishop Whelan, buy his famed ‘72 Cougar, cash his first A& W paycheck and gained lifelong friends. A&W played a huge part in Cy’s life starting out as a dishwasher, in Dorval, to managing many restaurants, travelling Northern Ontario helping build and operate numerous stores as Supervisor. Cy would put in over 30 years of service before retiring in 2017.
Cy loved the outdoors, camping in the mountains with a group of great friends beside a roaring campfire, laughing, singing, playing his guitar would be his perfect scene. After his retirement his own backyard in Sudbury was a haven for Cy. Gardens in many corners of the yard, birdfeeders in every tree, fires in the fire pit and music playing in the background. Cy enjoyed it all. He was grateful for the life and family he had. He will be missed more than words can ever say.
He is survived by his siblings Alexander Clunas (Barbara) of Waterloo and Algermaine Guillemette (Denis) of Sudbury, nieces and nephews Ryan Clunas (Ashraf) of Richmond Hill, Brian Guilemette (Megan Zelinsky), Michael Guillemette (Christine both of Sudbury, Natisha McLeod (Devin) of Timmins, Taryn Clunas (Jacob Morris) of Welland and great nephews and niece Simon, Derek, Logan and Rebecca.
At Cy’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred in the family plot in the spring. Donations to the Maison McCulloch Hospice would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home.
