An 11-year-old has died after he was thrown from an off-road vehicle on Aug. 4 near Capreol. Out of respect for the family’s wishes, Greater Sudbury Police stated they will provide no further information.
In a release sent Aug. 5, GSPS state that at around 12:20 p.m. on Monday, officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision on an unnamed road near Portelance Road, north of Capreol.
The information police received “was that two individuals were riding in a side-by-side when the driver lost control of the off-road vehicle (ORV), and the passenger was ejected.”
The passenger, the 11-year-old, was airlifted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The youth’s name will not be released out of respect for the family’s wishes. No further information related to the youth will be provided, said the police release.
Members of the Integrated Traffic Safety Unit (ITSU) continue to investigate the collision. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171.
