It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Maryann Blais, who peacefully passed away on Jan. 9, 2026, at the age of 90. She was born on May 16, 1935, in Sudbury to Frederick and Kathleen Vaughan.
She spent her career helping others manage pain as a reflexologist and later studied Reiki, becoming a Reiki master. She was best known as a teacher and for her knowledge of healing. She loved to read, learn, care for her plants and reflect on her native culture.
She is survived by Laura McGrath; Courtney Courchesne (Michael) and their children, Elektra and Emma; Cassandra McGrath (Kyle); and her brother, Robert Vaughan.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Vicki Blais; her brother, George “Billy” Vaughan; and her sisters, Margaret “Maggie” Cote, Carol “Tootie” Soden and Frances “Fran” Wass.
