The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra is excited to launch its new season with the Magical Symphony Tour on September 19, followed by the official season opener Classical Mega Hits, Vol. 2 on October 4.

These concerts set the tone for a season that highlights Sudbury’s vibrant arts community and showcases the SSO’s commitment to both excellence and accessibility.

Long before “crossover” was a buzzword, the Beatles were blending classical textures into pop masterpieces.

Magical Symphony Tour presents the Beatles’ orchestrations as originally envisioned, culminating in a full performance of the beloved Magical Mystery Tour album with arrangements by producer Sir George Martin.

This special event brings together conductor William Rowson, nine musicians from the SSO, and some of Greater Sudbury’s most talented performers — Dayv Poulin (guitar, vocals), Nick Krawczuk (bass, vocals), Zach Weil (keys), Ed Landry (guitar, vocals) and Matt Foy (drums, vocals).

The first Main Stage concert of the season, Classical Mega Hits, Vol. 2 is hosted by conductor William Rowson, who shares context and insights about the curated selection of enduring masterpieces.

“We wanted to open the season with concerts that are full of joy and points of connection,” said Rowson, who is embarking on his second season as SSO artistic director.

The symphony is welcoming a growing audience this year, and offering a variety of ways for Sudburians to develop a rewarding relationship with music, whether that’s lessons, concerts, or the experience of playing in an ensemble.

Classical Mega Hits Vol. 2 is also offered as a shorter 2 p.m. matinée performance.
